Noah has been in care with us for a very long time. This beautiful boy is continually overlooked as he is FIV positive. Noah joined the Purrs family after being found as a stray and taken into a local vet.
Cats with FIV are often overlooked due to misconceptions about their condition. They are also routinely PTS by councils and certain shelters. FIV is an autoimmune disorder and recent studies have estimated that between 9% – 16% of cats in Australia are infected. Cats with FIV have a harder time fighting off diseases than unaffected cats due to a less-effective immune system. They contract the disease through deep bite wounds and it cannot be transmitted to humans or other pets, just cats. Studies have found that FIV+ cats often outlive their FIV- friends, or at the very least, live just as long.
We are looking for a special home for Noah, with a family that understands his needs and will cherish him all the same. Noah will need an indoor home so he cannot spread the disease through fighting, is away from other sick cats and to avoid viruses, bacteria or other diseases found outside.
Here at Purrs we believe Noah deserves wonderful home. If kept indoors, fed good food and taken to the vet at the first sign of illness there is no reason he won’t be as healthy or live as long as any other cat here at Purrs.
He is a 3 year old handsome boy who loves to play but also likes company and to sit with you on the couch. He has a beautiful personality, set in his ways, is the boss of the house and loves pats under the chin. He would be absolutely perfect for some empty nesters who would like a cat for company.
Noah has been microchipped, vaccinated and desexed and his adoption fee is $160.
